I have a US Robotics 56k PCI modem. Before I went up to college, the i could connect to the internet just fine at home. Then I put some network software on the computer so I could use the University's network (which is a lot better than any modem connection). When i bring my computer home, the computer gives me ERROR 630. The modems there, it's internal, it's been installed properly, but i don't know what the problem is. I'm wondering if the network stuff has anything to do with the computer being able to tell whether or not there is a modem there.
I've been using my parents computer for the past few days and and getting a little tired of the dinosaur and slow loads. If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

You need to change your TCP/IP settings after you take the NIC out. Your computer is trying to use the schools IP settings for one thing and you need to set up a dial-up connection for your modem with your ISP's settings to be able to connect to their servers.
