I have recently purchased and installed the Adaptec DuoConnect PCI USB 2.0 / Firewire card. Installation seemed to go fine. I have an HP Photosmart 7550 connected to it, to a Dell Dimension 8200. I'm getting a message in the USBControl GUI, that states my "system is not performance optimized", and that my printer "is not working at optimum speed". I assume that means something in regards to USB 2.0. I'm running XP with SP1, so I should have USB 2.0 support. Has anyone else experienced this?? Any suggestions for a fix. Dell does not specifically address USB 2.0 on their web-site. Help!! Thanks!!!!

Look in Device Manager and tell us what is displayed under the USB controller section. We're specifically looking for something that mentions USB 2.0. Here's what I have:

The only problem with the USB debugging link is it only addresses USB 1.1 hardware built into the system, he's adding a USB 2.0 card.

I have just finished reformatting and reinstalling XP. I have installed the drivers for the Adaptec DuoConnect AUA-3020 Adapter as well as the drivers for the HP Photosmart 7550 printer. Still no USB 2.0 Root Hub. Belarc Advisor lists:

Bus Adapters
Adaptec AUA-3020 PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2442
Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM USB Universal Host Controller - 2444
NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller
NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub

Help!!

I believe the "Enhanced" in the title is telling you it's a USB 2.0 hub. It's interesting that my NEC USB says.

NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller

I think it's time to call Adaptec and ask them what's going on. :)
