Operating System: Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 2
Item: Motorola Wireless USB Adapter WU830G

My USB items don't seem to get installed (but the driver IS installed). 3 days ago, they worked just fine. I unplugged and re-plugged it a got a message "This USB if malfunctioning... ...Click here to get help", so I did. Then a screen popped-up, there where 2 choices. Either "Unused USB Root" or "Unknown Device". I was pretty sure it was Unknown Device, so I double-clicked on it. I then got another pop-up, and under Device status said "The driver of this device is not installed." But it was. So I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it. It still had the same problem. So I went to troubleshooter, they didn't have the option I was looking for. So I went to "Add Hardware" to try to fix it. I searched and it picked up "Unknown Device", so I click it and next and It said it was work fine. Can somebody help me? If you need more information you can ask. And remember, it worked just fine 3 days ago. Thanks for all the help! :D

Create a file with NOTEPAD containing the following lines and save it as FIX.REG
-------------------------- cut after this line --------------------------------
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment]

"DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES"="1"
-------------------------- cut before this line --------------------------------

Double click on FIX.REG and say yes to the Merge Into Registry question.

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Disk Drives that you know are not present.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

Once I unstall the things you told me to do, will they come back after the reboots?

Yep, that's the idea. :) With any luck, they'll come back better, without the incorrect settings, so everything works...

Sorry, that didn't work, do you have any other solutions? And I think it's a problem with the USB Root Hubs.
