This is driving me nuts!
My usb mass storage device and my MP3 player is in the device manager, but does not show up in my computer. I hav tried assigning a drive letter but that did not help.
Any advice?

I am having the same issue.

Anyone know what could be causing this?

Win XP SP2.

USB stick is recognized by computer you just can't see it under "My Computer" or Explorer. Although it is in Disk Management. And again, changing the driver letter doesn't do anything.

Anyone.

Do you guys have any mapped network drives on your PCs?

Taken From http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=573320

AKB77-ga was correct, I just had the same exact problem, my Sony
camera would not show up in my computer, BUT, it was in the removable
media list, in 'hardware devices' and in computer management, but no
drive letter was assigned.

It worked fine on the other PC.

WHAT THE PROBLEM IS:
After a little while, I figured out that, The NEXT DRIVE LETTER must
be available. Example: FloppyA, HardC, DVD-d, cdrom-e, then SONY is
going to take "F" ...... EVEN IF, EVEN IF you aready assigned "F" to
something else (Network) ....

I unmounted my "F" drive, and bam, camera works.

The last "REAL" drive letter is important, anything 'assigning a new
letter' is going to take the next one (in my case being F) so it HAD
TO BE FREE.

Thanks mattyc, but that didn't help, thanks for trying though.

I've assigned a lot of different free driver letters to it and it still doesn't show up on "My computer"
