I have a XP Home basic pc which I've had for approx 6 years. Since yesterday my Mikomi Optical USB mouse stops working and the red light goes out. I get a message pop up in the system tray saying a USB device is not recognised.

This happens after I've been using the pc for approx 50-60 minutes.

I've tried changing the USB port the mouse is connected to but all that happens is the red light flashes on for a second, then nothing. The only option I have is to power off the pc and start again. I've had the mouse for approx 12 - 14 months. This only started to happen since Service Pack 3 failed to install.

    Any ideas?

Not saying it will help, try a system restore before you added service pack 3.

After SP3 was uninstalled after it failed I reset my pc to the restore point before I had tried to install SP3, yet the proble persists.

Have you tried using the ps/2 on the back panel with a different mouse?
