Usb Flash Drive Error

    Just a quick one

    how do i make my usb drive that is not being detected in windows to be detected

    i get this error

    "one of the usb devices attatched to this computer has malfunctioned. and windows does not recognise it "

    i have tried one cryzy thing i washed it in water, i used to do this if any motherboard died, then dry them out in the sun and they would work fine again

    is there any one with any idea i can work on this drive its a sahara eDrive 1 GB

    Well, I think the first thing to do is to THROUGHLY dry it. If you can't remove the plastic shell, you'll need to bake it somehow. I normally put electronics I've washed in an oven for a few hours at around 130-140F to bake the moisture out. Then I'd try it on several computers to see if the drive works anywhere before you waste too much time chasing phantoms.

    Good Morning Gentlemen, the probability of being able to safely dry that device is not good.
    Any moisture in critical places could allow an electrolysis action to happen, this would accellerate corrosion and quite possibly produce a circumstance where a USB controller in a computer could be destructed.

    I would suggest losing the device may well be a good idea!

    That really depends. I've washed all sorts of electronic devices. AAMOF, the process of manufacturing most PCB's involves a washing step, nowadays that's a water wash.
