Anytime I got to install the drivers for my MP3 player it dosen't work. The Hardware wizard comes up, walks me through the install, than at the end it ways something went wrong and it couldnt find the drivers. IT wont even show up under my computer. The MP3 player is a SUper Talent 2gig Mega-SCreen.

Have you tried it on another computer to rule out a faulty device?

Yes, it works great on the neighbors computer. I looked in the Device manager and NX-58SERIES had an exclamation mark next to it, it says the drivers aren't installed.

The exact error message is: An error occured during the installation of this device The driver installation drive for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the INF was written fo Windows 95 or later.

That might be true, Windows XP doesn't require a driver for most USB drives/media players. Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the driver if its listed there. Remove/unisntall the drive in Device Manager. Then try plugging in the player without installing the software or inserting the disk.

Create a file with NOTEPAD containing the following lines and save it as FIX.REG
-------------------------- Use text after this line --------------------------------
    REGEDIT4

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment]

    "DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES"="1"
-------------------------- Use text before this line --------------------------------

Double click on FIX.REG and say yes to the Merge Into Registry question.

    Unplug ALL USB devices.
    Open Device Manager.
    View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Disk Drives that you know are not present.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

NOTE: If you have a USB keyboard and/or mouse, you'll have to modify the instructions and leave enough parts for those to function. I don't have one yet, so I haven't had time to modify the instructions.

Try reloading the motherboard drivers. Removing the USB devices shouldn't cause the computer to lock up.
