USB not working correctly?

i have windows 98 second edition. i have a Sony DSC-S30 Digital Camera and it was working fine until mid last week. no reasons why. no new isntalls or uninstalls. just randomly stopped working. i tried reinstalling the drivers and such but it says they arent there.

any ideas whats happening?

i dont have another computer. if i go into add/remove hardware it says its disabled. so i enable it and it will say the drivers arent there. so i reinstall those. still nothing. then it will randomly disablei tself again. its not the bios i already checked that. im thinkin i just need to reformat and reinstall windows and start off at square 1 but i dont remember how to reformat.

My mistake, I posted the fix for 2K/XP for your W98 problem. :eek:

AFAIK, for W98, you can simply view hidden devices and remove everything under USB Controllers and any unknown devices and reboot.

Bootup in Safe Mode and look for "duplicate" devices related to the problem there, and remove all of them and reboot.

You should remove both the duplicates and the original and let Windows discover the proper settings. If you just remove one of the duplicates, it could be the wrong one. :)
