    hi-
i am having problems with my usb ports. i tried installing a hp scanjet 6200c and had problems with it. initially, setup could not be executed because it said the usb drivers were not updated so in the setup disk there was a usb updating folder. the usb was installed but then the whole usb port stopped working. the port cannot read my printer or my wireless mouse. under the device manager, it says there is nothing wrong with my printer but nothing can be sent through there. i was wondering if you could help me with this. thanks.

You don’t say which OS and MB you have. Some MS articles that might be significant:

I have a HP 6250 and love it. It has worked flawlessly since I broke down and sprung for a SCSI cable – already had the card. It is faster on SCSI as well. A Tekram DC315U card will run it fine and they are going on Pricewatch for less than $20. You can get an adequate cable online for less than $10. Not worth the expense if you just use the scanner occasionally, but you will notice the speed increase if you use it a lot.
