I reinstalled my windows xp onto a new hard drive. It will recognize my keyboard and mouse, but when I plug my dell keyboard and my logitech wirless mouse into the usb ports it will not recognize them and come to the hardware update wizard. Also if I switch the mouse and keyboard that does work to a different USB port they will stop working. Im not to sure if it is the USB driver its self that is not working or something else.

It needs the drivers before they will work, to install the drivers for the Dell keyboard and mouse keep the other mouse connected so that you can click through the Found New Hardware Wizard.

Its a plug and play keyboard, it did not come with a driver and the mouse is the same as well. Even on the Dell download site don't have any drivers for it. I am trying to use a dell keyboard Model# SK-8115 and a logitech wireless mouse Model#C-BS35. They both work on another computer.
Also if i switch mouse and keyboard port it will cause the both to stop working even after a reboot. If I switch them back they will work again. The mouse will only work in one specific USB port and the same for the keyboard.

Correct, the drivers are included in Windows for it, however they still must install before they will work.

If you keep the working keyboard and mouse connected and only plug in the mouse into another USB port, are you able to install it successfully? The same goes for the keyboard.

Thanks for responding. I got it figured out I had to do a bit searching for the right driver. I had to go to the inf folder than to the drivers folder then to the I386 folder. But I dont undersand why it wont automaticaly detect the driver. It was being automaticaly detected before but now it wont.
