I have a Samsung NC10 netwook to which i attached an axternal DVD drive to a usb port. The disc did not load so i attached the power supply to the dvd drive and as soon as i did, my netbook switched off.

Since then i have been unable to connect my iphone to the netbook. The iphone charges but the computer does not recognise it. I have tried a usb flash drive in the ports but i get a message 'USB device not recognised'

I have tried uninstalling the USB ports using device manager but this has not made any difference.

    Please help!

    Thanks

unfortunately the os is not supported at this time (xp).

Can anyone suggest how i could (if possible) replace the motherboard from an identical machine. Is it simply a case of swapping?

I have plugged in a mouse into one of the ports and that was recognised by the computer but iPhone and pen drives are not

    Any ideas why?

    bump

I have tried to update the chipset drivers. I now have another problem:

The USB device not recognised balloon keeps popping up every 5 seconds. The USB port on the right hand side of the machine does not work at all. The ports on the left of the machine provide power to devices plugged in. However only one of these ports allowed me to use a usb pen drive and the other just provides power.

The port that "works" does not allow me to connect my phone for syncing

Bigbear - is that safe to do? I am worried about losing my data by uninstalling storage volumes

I just tried USB ports again and have discovered one is working, one just provides power and the third port is dead (which I never usually use)
