The following items are not recognized when plugged into any USB port:
Camera card reader, digital photo frame, external hard drive (for back-up).
PC using Windows XP. Do not know brand of PC or manufacturer of mother board. Any suggestions ??

More than likely, it's not that the ports aren't working, it's probably because Windows does not come with the drivers for those peripherals. You will need to download the drivers from the manufacturer of the products.

What is the exact error you get when you plug them in? Nothing at all? Not recognized? Cannot locate drivers?

I get nothing....no error message or anything else. Some months ago my girlfriend managed to load some photos unto a digital frame....about a third of the way thru the process the loading suddenly stopped. Since then we have not been able to do anything with the USB ports.
