Hello, I'm running WinXP SP2. I have the latest Intel Chipset update. All my mouse, mic, and keyboard USB devices are working, but no flash memory.

I can't put any data on flash drives or my mp3 player. I can see the drive, and browse it, but when I try to copy a file to it the window freezes. Next time I check, a file of the name I tried to copy is there, but it's 0kb...

The flash drives work in other computers.

How can I fix this? I even can this Intel USB Driver checker and it said all my USB drivers checked out fine. And USB is enabled and everything in the BIOS.

Create a file with NOTEPAD containing the following lines and save it as FIX.REG
-------------------------- cut here --------------------------------
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment]

"DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES"="1"
-------------------------- cut here --------------------------------

Double click on FIX.REG and say yes to the Merge Into Registry question.

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Disk Drives that you know are not present.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

Ooo, I fixed it. I tried disconnecting all USB stuff then uninstalling all the devices under the USB controllers. When I connected my flash drives they worked! I added one thign after another, it seems as soon as I add my Sunbeam 20-in-1 Panel card reader the flash drives stop working...

Arg, it was handy to have a card reader there...

If you try my entire procedure, you may be able to use both.
