Today everything that I' have attached to my computer decided to stop working. My wireless adapter, ipod, flash drive.

I'm using Windows XP SP 2 and these things have been plugged in for months (well ipod hasn't but when it has been I've had no problems.)

Now today all of a sudden they all decided to disconnect and when I plug them in it says that they are not recognised and they come up as 'unknown device' in the device manager. Why is it doing this and how can i fix it? I've restarted, unplugged them all, and I can't find any answers googling the problem.

Someone please help, I'm close to killing things.

    Open the device manager:
Type: devmgmt.msc into the start menu's "Run..." dialogue, and OK it.

Expand "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in the device manager and uninstall each/all of the entries within it (USB root hubs / host controllers etc.).
    Reboot.

Thanks for your help, but it turns out my computers totally buggered, hopefully I'm getting a replacement sent to me soon.

    Thanks again.
