I have just installed a usb2 pci card into my m/c. however my motherboard an Asus P4T does not recognise it as usb2 and only runs it as a usb1. I have flashed the bios to the latest version but it makes no difference. Do I assume therefore that my m/c will not accept the pci card as a usb2

Have you tried to update all of your system drivers and the PCI card drivers?

Post a screen shot of what appears under the USB Controllers section of Device Manager. Do any of the devices have the word Enhanced in the title?

Isn't there a BIOS setting that could come into play here?
