    Hello,

I was using Fast User Switching and deleted a user account that was still logged on. It deleted the account, but the "Documents and Settings" folder for that user wasn't deleted. When I try to delete the folder, it says: "Cannot delete NTUSER.DAT: It is being used by another person or program."

Does anybody know how I can delete this folder? The user no longer appears in the User Accounts settings menu, so I'm not sure how to exorcise this "ghost" account.

    Thanks!
    MM

i'm assuming your ur using Winxp. If thats the case log in as the Admin in safe mode. From there you should be able to delete the "ghost" account folder.

See if the profile still exists in System Properties > User Profiles tab.

I think that the error message basically means that the owner of the account that has the file NTUSER.DAT is still logged on and therefore the file is in use and cannot be deleted.

If you can't do it in safemode, Unlocker may work.

    Thanks Eathen,

I was able to delete the "Unknown Account" in Safe Mode.

Thanks for all of your help,
