I have 4 user accounts on xp home edition. When 1 of my sons changes his desktop my desktop changes as well. Same if I change my desktop. How can I resolve this issue?

What do you mean by "changes desktop"? I'll presume you mean desktop icons. If you mean something different, like desktop wallpaper, or other, post again...

Also, when you say "When 1 of my sons changes his desktop", do you mean when just one particiluar of their accounts has this effect? Or when any one of them makes changes?

There are two different desktop folders that affect a given user. The documents and settings->all users->desktop folder is where the icons that affect every desktop go. Any change to these icons will show for all users.
The documents and settings->*username*->desktop folder is for icons that only show for one user. Put icons in these if you want them to only be for one user.
