i have never really paid any attention to the small details of my computer because i only use it for gaming and thats about it. i recently got an oculus rift s and it needs a displayport but my computer only has one HDMI and one VGA port. Im fine with connecting the VGA port to my computer and using the HDMI on the headset until im done using it. I never paid attention to the GPU that came with the compiter but its not that good after i took a loot and wont support DP. do i need a new GPU, an adapter, or should i just turn in the rift s and buy the original online with the money i get from turning it in.
Im mostly wondering if its possible to even use an adapter to DP if my GPU doesnt support DP. I think i somehow left out the fact that the GPU doesnt support displayport in any way.
It should work, the reason your GPU states it doesn't support DP is probably because it doesn't have a DP socket
However, as said by PeterOz, there is a change it won't give you the results you want.
What GPU are you using, for ease run the TSG System Info utility linked in my Signature and post the results.
