using a router as an adaptor?

i already have a router, i was wondering if rather then buying a really expensive gaming adapter from dlink or linksys, if i could use another router to pick up signals? Like a router to router connection, rather then router to adaptor?

Only if the router had "bridge" or "AP" capability.
