Using a wireless connection to create another wireless connection

Question: Is is possible to take a incoming WiFi connection, say over a laptop and then push that connection to the internet thru your ethernet to the incoming side of a router, where the router can then push out the signal?

Basically what I'm trying to do is setup a wireless on wireless ad-hoc network. My incoming connection is not wired, its wireless. So will I be able to do that some how? Or second, what If I had a external USB wireless adapter? Could I use that to recieve the internet signal then create a ad-hoc wireless network and use my internal card to support that network, while the external usb adapter supports the main line network?

Thanks,
Justin

Well, you can receive the incoming signal with a wireless bridge product, and connect that device to a router and rebroadcast the signal, would that do the trick?
