After re-installing Vista for the second time, ( I vow to get a MAC next purchase), my Office XP refuses to install.

So I downloaded the free Office app Libre Office. It seemed good at first but when I opened a .rtf document created in Word with
tables, they are horrendous in the Libre Office Writer,

Is there any fix to this?

I did a google search and there's not much on this.

I'm surprised the document you got was saved in.rtf format if it contained tables. I know when you open a document in Writer (LibreOffice) some formating can be messed up some and require some fixing but .rtf may be the reason if your tables are messed up. Can the party send you a copy in .doc or .docx? LibreOffice is able to open those file formats.Special formatting beyond the basic table (using any features special to Word) could be another reason if there is any anywhere in your document.

RTF support in Openoffice and Libreoffice is poor at best.

Is it a .doc or an .rtf? They are completely different formats.
