Using Modem while on Network

Hello all,

Here is the problem I'm having:

I'm connect at work to the network (10/100) and when I open my browser it connects me to the internet through the router. Now when I'm on the network and I connect to another service via modem what happens is all my network requests are routed to the modem. Is there anyway to set it up where I can use both. Please let me know if you need further clarification.
