Have partitioned the harddrive on my Vaio notebook (PCG-GRT30CP) and installed Windows XP-SP3 on this. I used OEM software from my other laptop (Lenovo 3000 series) to do the installation. I know, it's WRONG, but there is a very good reason for having to do this.
A few problems have followed, the main one being no sound. Have installed new drivers where indicated by 'Driver Detective', checked threads here at TSG and followed up on 1 of them by running 'MG Everest' diagnostics to find my motherboard (Sony <DMI>), have tried to find drivers for this but without success.
I have checked the BIOS, there is no information on the sound system in there.
I am now at a loss, I have a large amount of info from Everest scan that means very little to me. Can anybody help me through the next steps?
Many thanks.
