I am fixing a computer for a friend, and i ran ad-aware and came up with trojans such as these:
    Adaware.Weirweb
    Win32.Trojan.DNSchanger
    Win32.Trojandownloader.Zlob
    WinAntivirusPro
    Win32.Trojan.Downloader
    Targetsaver
    Win32.Trojan.Spy
    Win32.Trojandownloader.Agent
    and
    Win32.Trojandownloader.Adbad
    --------

Any help would be thankful. I will need the basic steps and basic software to get you the information needed to fix these problems, thanks.

I would like to be able to give the computer to him by tomorrow so fast responces will be helpful, thanks in advance.

    Hi,
From what you say I think you need to post a HijackThis log and then wait for someone qualified (gold shield next to their name) to take you through what needs to be done. Please go no further than the steps below and posting your results for now.You may want to print off this guide just in case.

Using Hijackthis with the self-installer that puts it into Program Files for you:

go to Click here to download HJTsetup.exe

    • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
    • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
    • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
    • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
    • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
    • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then save the log and then the log will open in Notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Once you've done this, hang on for further guidance.

    Richard.

I understand there are a lot of people like me still waiting for help as well, and I am obviously a new member, so I do not mind waiting but do you think you can give me some new steps after doing a hijack-This log and a SmitFraudfix?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
    • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted: "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Warning: running option #2 on a non infected computer will remove your Desktop background.

Please post the C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log in your next reply.

Hi, cybeertech- Joe has PM'd and says he needs to proceed.
I hope you do not mind the "hijack" I am only going to have them
run some scans and post new logs.

Joe, I do not see anything else in the HJT log but let's have you run a fresh scan with AVG Antispyware since we have not seen any logs from it, and then a Panda scan, and I will let cybertech come back when she can and finish this up, sorry but we do not hijack each other's threads as a rule here! (Though, I am usually one that is asking for more expert help!)

    _ _ _ _ _

Make sure of AVG's settings and proceed exactly as it says to:

Am posting this because not everyone has had the benefit of getting directions...not that you are stupid or anything)
    • On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
      • Next select the "Start Update" button. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
    • Once the update has completed, select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
    • Note: If you cannot access the internet with the infected PC, or you are having problems updating, you can download the signatures file from here.
Once you have installed AVG A-S, double click avgas-signatures-full-current.exe to update it. If you are on the problem computer just update it over the Net.
    • Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
    • Under "Reports"
      • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
      • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
      • Disabling the Resident Shield: (This may have changed in a new build but check for it).

By default the Resident Shield is active but as it may interfere with the process of cleaning your PC, it will need to be disabled.
(When the PC has been cleaned you can activate the shield again, if you wish.)
Click the Shield icon at the top and under "Resident shield is..." - click active.
This should now change to inactive.
[/list]Close AVG Anti-Spyware. Do Not run a scan just yet, we will run it in safe mode.

    1. Often it helps that you shut down the PC and pull out any broadband (network or Ethernet cable) going into the computer. Use only Safe Mode and not with networking to run the next part.
      _ _ _ _ _
    2. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.

IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning as it may interfere with the scanning process:
    3. Launch AVG Anti-Spyware by double clicking the icon on your desktop.
    4. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
    5. AVG will now begin the scanning process. Please be patient as this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete, do the following:
    6. If you have any infections you will be prompted. Then select "Apply all actions."
    7. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
    8. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left- hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file. This is important).
    9. Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode.
    _ _ _ _
    HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
    • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
    • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
    • Enter your Country
    • Enter your State/Province
    • Enter your e-mail address and click send
    • Select either Home User or Company
    • Click the big Scan Now button
    • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
    • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report

Post an AVG log, Panda log, and a new HJT please when you are ready.

These are the usual steps in this type of issue- we want to be sure nothing has remained to reinfect you.
There is no gurantee that even these two extra scans mean that no malware remains, but it is extra insurance.
