For the latest info on the upgrade: http://forums.techguy.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=1541321#post1541321

This is a list of just a few of the new features:

- Show the title of the last posted to thread for each forum in the index

- Subscribed threads are indicated with an icon on thread / forumdisplay listings

- Expand/collapse categories in forum view

- Insert smilie/vB code where cursor is (IE5+ Only)

- Ability to add attachment when editing a post instead of just when creating

- Multiple attachments!

- "excerpt of message:" are now in the new reply email notifications

- New mailqueue system to improve server performance when sending a ton of emails

- Login/logout ability in all pages, with user/pass form

- Password break-in watches -- too many failed attempts warning with a preset wait after too many failures.

- Welcome system for new users: if they have fewer than 5 posts, a bright yellow box appears at the top stepping them through how to post, not to post illegal stuff, etc.

- Completely revamped PM system

- Mass download of PMs in CSV, TXT, or XML format

- Preview PM before sending

- Ability to send PM to multiple receipents

- Ability to post a poll AFTER a thread had started

- Select multiple forums to search

- Automatically detects daylight savings time!

- Integrated paid subscriptions allows you to see when your one year of no-ads is up.

- Completely revamped User Photo system, which will require everyone to re-upload their photo. :(

- Completely revamped appearance style, although I've tried to it pretty close to our current one.

- Plus more!

The new layout and features will likely take a little getting used to, but as with past changes, I think it'll be worth it. :)

Yup, chat will be there, but we won't be able to authenticate it against username/passwords for at least part of the time. :-/

Integrated paid subscriptions allows you to see when your one year of no-ads is up
If, for example, you haven't donated since over a year ago, when the new one goes live, will you have to donate again, or will it say one year from now?

Just curious, so I may have to dust off that credit card again :p

Eddie: What I think I'm going to do is just set everyone who has no-ads now to expire one year from the switch-over (this weekend, I hope). If someone knows it's been a year since they've actually donated, maybe they'll be kind hearted and make up for it. :) For those people who have more no-ad times owed to them, I'll just have them contact me so I can go back and manually find their old entry and add it to the new system.

Last time, he just put up a page that said the site was down, with a link to the chat room...the actual website wouldn't be down, but the forum would be, and since this site operates off the forum, you just make a simple HTML page explaining it and throw a link to the chat room on it.
