Is anyone around who can help me with this? I have been trying to follow the instructions posted in some of the threads, but I see that I need someone to look at these log files. However, I've restarted a couple of times and don't seem to have all the information. Can someone please help walk me through this? this is a business laptop (not mine!) and I need to finish my work, like, two days ago :(

I know you are probably wanting this,

    Welcome to TSG :)

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

Open the l2mfix folder and double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter.
Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal).
L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, it will be ready for a reboot.
    Press any key to reboot.
After the reboot notepad will open with a log.
Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new Hijack This log. (see below for Hijack This instructions)
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
If after the reboot the log does not open, double click on it in the l2mfix folder.

Click here to download Hijack This - HJTsetup.exe: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTSetup.exe
    Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.

Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

You have multiple infections. It also looks like the L2MFix will need to be rerun
    Do this first...

    * Click here to download smitRem.exe.
    • Save the file to your desktop.
    • It is a self extracting file.
    • Doubleclick the smitRem.exe and it will extract the files to a smitRem folder on your desktop.
    • Do not do anything with it yet. You will run the RunThis.bat file later in safe mode.

    * Click here for info on how to boot to safe mode if you don't already know how.

    * Now copy these instructions to notepad and save them to your desktop. You will need them to refer to in safe mode.

    * Restart your computer into safe mode now. Perform the following steps in safe mode:

    * Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

    * Run Ewido:
    • Click on scanner
    • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    • During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK
    • When the scan is finished, look at the bottom of the screen and click the Save report button.
    • Save the report to your desktop

    * Go to Control Panel > Internet Options. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.

    * Next go to Control Panel > Display. Click on the "Desktop" tab then click the "Customize Desktop" button. Click on the "Web" tab. Under "Web Pages" you should see an entry checked called something like "Security info" or similar. If it is there, select that entry and click the "Delete" button. Click OK then Apply and OK.

    * Restart back into Windows normally now.

    * Run ActiveScan online virus scan here

When the scan is finished, anything that it cannot clean have it delete it. Make a note of the file location of anything that cannot be deleted so you can delete it yourself.
    - Save the results from the scan!

Post a new HiJack This log along with the results from ActiveScan and the Ewido scan and post the contents of the smitfiles.txt.

Okay. Try as I might, I could not get the ActiveScan to remove the files. However, I just went in and deleted them myself:

Note: The 'clean' comment at the end of the smitfiles is not my commentation. I have not rebooted to see if the problem has been corrected. As stated, all the files noted on activescan were removed by me.

    Awaiting further instructions.

Sorry, was able to correct everything from the activescan except for this:

    Adware:adware/deskwizz Not disinfected Windows Registry

Still getting effing popups. Going crazy, slowly. Urge to kill rising.

    Download KillBox here: http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
    Save it to your desktop.
    DO NOT run it yet.

    Rescan with Hijack This.
Close all browser windows except Hijack This.
Put a check mark beside these entries and click "Fix Checked".

    Boot into Safe Mode.

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Now put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file.
It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
    Click Yes.
Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

    c:\secure32.html
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\paytime.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\00kk03qo.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\igps.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\newfrn.exe
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00001.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\sywsvcs.exe
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VCClient\VCClient.exe
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VCClient\VCMain.exe
    C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3\Ssk.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\?hkntfs.exe
    C:\Program Files\twen\coea.exe

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist.
If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

    Exit the KillBox.

    Find and delete these folders:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VCClient
    C:\Program Files\SurfSideKick 3
    C:\Program Files\twen

Also in Safe Mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder.
Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box.
The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

It's normal if some files don't delete!

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options.
On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files".
Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK.
Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button.
    Click Apply then OK.

    Empty the Recycle Bin.

    Reboot, post a new log.

Thank you so much, I thought I'd lost my window of opportunity ;) Working an entire months worth of medical billing in safe mode was not souding fun!

No more pop-ups and I didn't get the error msgs at the start up. I thank you, from the very bottom of my heart for helping me. I don't know what I would've done. Can I make you some cookies?

You're very welcome :) The log is clean.

Make it chocolate chip and we have a deal! ;)

    Now turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    Click Properties.
    Click the System Restore tab.
    Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn System Restore back on and create a restore point.

    To create a restore point:

Single-click Start and point to All Programs.
Mouse over Accessories, then System Tools, and select System Restore.
In the System Restore wizard, select the box next the text labeled "Create a restore point" and click the Next button.
Type a description for your new restore point. Something like "After trojan/spyware cleanup". Click Create and you're done.
