problem..xp malware. this rogue software is covering my screen with all kinds of bad messages that my laptop is about to crash etc. I purchased a pny flash drive to download a fix from bleepingcomputer.com. I cannot access the file I downloaded unto the drive to fix the laptop. I cannot verify that the file is even on the flash drive. How can I verify this so I can proceed with the fix? this has been an all day event. please help:(

You are better off to create a bootable Antivirus CD, boot from it and scan your hard drive.

I suggest the one from Kaspersky

After that is done install a Good AV software and do a full system scan while in windows.

Then Install MBAM, update it twice, then run a full system scan, remove any nasties it finds. This is not active protection, it is just a scanner that must be manually run by you.
