very easy desktop fix please help

    here is a very easy problem for someone that knows and can tell me how to fix it

    i run xp pro sp2 now all my problem is, is that on my desktop icons the boxes around the writing are always highlighted as if i have clicked on it but i havent. it never used to be like this but the kids have been on and its starting to get on my t*ts

    please tell me how to get rid.

    Try here first

    To get to Device Manager click Start>>Run type devmgmt.msc click OK


    Then click on the Advanced tab

    Under Performance click Settings

    With Visual Effects at the top selected

    Make sure that Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop is ticked

    If that doesn't work give System Restore a go to a time before it happened.

    You giving the kids full permissions on the PC.....

    I think Bonk meant for you to open System Properties. You can get there by pressing the Windows key+Pause Break key, or right click the desktop My Computer icon and select properties.

    that worked when i got home did the job but if you care to have a look at another thread slightly related to this by me but at work when i also corrected this at work and got a stroppy I.T guy started to disable things so its round 3 now with us help me find loopholes in his system please.

    Yea it should have read Press Windows Logo key + Pause Break key together
