I have a Dell Lattitude Laptop that is several years old. The operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1 Service Pack 3. It has 512 Mb ram and a hard disk that holds 120 Gb.
I use it mostly for cruising the internet. It has run really nicely ever since I got it, but over the last few months it has gotten progressively slower. Now it is slow to a point where it is difficult to use, having to wait several minutes for each page to load. I have DSL which I know is not the fastest, but pages used to load within a few seconds take several minutes or may not even load. Switching from hardwired connection to wireless does not seem to make much of a difference.

I realize this machine is a few years old, but I thought it should easily handle internet browsing for a few years to come.
I have installed a number of Malware detection products as well as AVG and am thinking maybe it is running slow because I have too much of this stuff on here. I read thru the instruction for trying to get some help on the topic in this forum, I have downloaded and run the latest version of Hijackthis from your link. I will post that report below. Anything advice you could give me would be really appreciated. Thanks.
