my computer crashed, and I am trying to get it up and running. I have Win98-Gateway
    I got the message:
A device or resource required by vfat is not present or is unavailable. VFAT can not continue loading.

    System Halted.

I tried scandisk, and it stops at 15%

Am I going to lose all my info on my comp?
Can anyone help me???? please?? :p

I think this article gives the simplest explanation of the problem and what to do about it.

There is also info in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, but the solution is more difficult to follow.
