Bought a used notebook(bad idea)

Everest says i have both

Video Adapter Standard VGA Graphics Adapter (14 MB)
3D Accelerator nVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT

Device manager says i have only Standard VGA Graphics Adapter (14 MB)

So i think it means my video card is broken... but i aint 100% sure becouse everest shows it. (those everest show those devices that dosnt work?)

Copmuter is Sony Vaio VGN-AR520E

When i try to instail a driver from sony home page, it instails it correctly, restart, then when its starting up in the end gives a blue screen

O the blue screen code is 0x00000018

When i try to instail a driver from nvidia home page, it says u dont have the hardwere requred whore that driver, and shuts it down.

Didn't they give you laptop's drivers? The best idea would be to use CDs coming with the laptop...

In case it's just drivers problem. If video card is damaged you must ask for service.

I don't think so, specially if laptops are different hardware (but may be possible though). It would be a headache to figure it out, so it's much easier to buy a new laptop (always in my opinion).
