Start it in safe mode and see if it works ok

Immediately after the computer is powered on tap the F8 key in 1 second intervals.

I was able to finally get my computer past the black screen and do a reset. I have a 19 inch tv as my screen and the icons are now to big for the screen The resolution is set at 1360x786 This has never been a problem before but any suggestions on how to fix this

I downloaded silverlight no effect on the screen being too wide. I went into advanced properties in video card and could change there but when i changed to 1024x786 it did not look right so i reverted back to 1360x786. I have even tried align to grid with no help. On my desktop icons on the far left are half covered and large, I am able to go to a web page and web pages they look stretched also.
