I've got some video clips which have been edited, etc. in i-movie and I now want to find a file format that would be suitable for compressing the clips down to fit on a CD-ROM. I know its going to be a play off between quality and size but can anyone recommend a file format that would play back on Quick time and Windows media player and have a file size that is as small as possible on the CD-ROM but retains good quality image and sound.

Mpeg1 is the usual compression format for vcd's, whereas mpeg2 is for vcd/dvd's. Nero etc can convert. Here's a good place to start (the bible of burning): http://www.dvdrhelp.com/
