So a couple of months ago my daughter spilled her beer on my Sony Vaio VPECH laptop. Everything is OK except the webcam is not working properly. The picture comes up eventually and is like looking through a '60s psychedelic camera. What can I do to fix this?

    Hello and welcome to TSG!!

Have you tried to clean the camera lens? It sounds like you're looking through the remains of beer suds ... ;-) Try using a Q-tip dipped in a mild solvent, like maybe diluted glass cleaner to clean the lens.

I'll give it a shot. Can't hurt. :) I'm more concerned that some hardware is damaged though.

If necessary you might find the webcam on Ebay, could be quite a big job to fit it though so buying a separate webcam might be a better idea.

If the beer got int between the actual camera and the protective lens on the bezel of the laptop then you may need to take the bezel apart to clean it properly.
