Hi there,

I'm not sure if there's a thread dealing with this directly, but I'm running Window 7 Home Premium on my computer here.
However, while my new system is largely capable of handling a lot of the programs I used to be able run under my old WinXP system, there are at least two games that are not compatible - Asterix & Obelix XXL 1 & 2.
Atari says that Windows7 just isn't compatible, so there's not much to be done there.
Still, there is one solution I can think of - and that is running a Virtual XP that is supposed to handle the old programs in the old way.
My problem? I have Windows 7 Home - and Microsoft won't let me download their Virtual XP simulation thing unless I shell out and pay for an upgrade to Professional. I don't really want to do this - I can't really afford it, and for just two games it's not really worth the money.
So my question is - how can I run a Virtual XP running under Win7 Home, without upgrading?

Games don't run well in virtual environments because they don't utilize your physical hardware in the same way. In any case, in order to run Windows XP in a virtual environment without using Windows XP Mode, you need a full, unused, retail (not a previously used OEM) licensed copy. Do you have that?

Unfortunately, the only version of XP I had before was what was already set up on the old computer - we never did manage to get hold of a standalone copy... ^^;

I think if you google "xp mode windows 7 home premium" you'll find out how to accomplish what you're after. Also, you might consider running xp mode with VMware Player, which I have done and it works pretty well.
