Hey there guys, I'm not sure if this is a virus or some kind of weird setting problem, but my instincts tell me it's the first. I'm seriously about to shoot myself in the head. I'm not joking; college student, computer is life. So after a few minutes, my browser will stop loading pages. This happens with Firefox, IE, AND chrome. Its not my internet connection, I'm positive. I stay "connected" the whole time. Same thing with wireless and wired. If I reboot the computer, the browsers will start working again but only for a few minutes. It basically just loads forever. However, its definitely not just being slow. Actually, this computer is usually pretty lightning. Not sure of the exact model, but I know its a 2010. I havent even actually owned it a whole year, thats just the model. I have almost no space used, and no really large programs.

Windows 7, Admin (and only) account, Toshiba Satellite.

I tried clearing my cookies, temp, cache, history, etc. I tried cleaning up the registry with CCleaner. I ran AVG and Ad-aware, and they found nothing. (For the record, I also have Spybot S&D and recently, Hijack-this.) I can't *find* any unusual processes when I open my task manager. I tried uninstalling and re-downloading the browser. I also tried making a new junk account just to see if there was a simple setting problem, but the new one did the same thing. My system restore did nothing, but I only had one restore point from a few days ago, which I could have already been infected. (I thought I had more restore points, but I guess not.) It DOES NOT have this problem when I run the boot it in safemode+networking. At least not that I saw, and I spent a good amount of time clicking around to see if the same thing would happen.

The only thing it did the same was occasionally load a page weird (like text only Facebook. But if I reload the page a few times, it fixes itself.) This started happening around the same time, but I'm not sure if its related to the browser not working or not. I should also note that pretty much everything is up to date. (Such as windows updates, etc) I don't have any other firewalls besides windows firewall, and I haven't changed any internet/firewall/anything settings. The only thing I can think of that might cause this, is some update I did a few days ago (direct from Toshiba) that said it needed to update my BIOS for something like to fix a common problem. I would think, however, that if it were this, the browser would not load at all to begin with, not just stop working after a few minutes.

I also can't wipe it and reload the OS, because when I bought the computer they didn't give me an OS disk. Otherwise, I would have done this already. Please help me. :( Please.

first off, NEVER use registry cleaner programs.....they will invariably cause more harm than good. CCleaner is a fine app, just do not use the registry cleaning portion of it.

secondly, be patient. Malware is a busy forum, and if nobody responds in 48 hours, type 'bump' in the reply field.

    finally, welcome to TSG. :)
