Hello all,

I have a Dell Dimension 9200 running Windows XP Home with McAfee SecurityCentre (I think!) which today started displaying messages saying the computer is infected with malware. I tried downloading the latest version of MalwareBytes but MB is killed shortly after running either full or quick scan. Doing a full system scan with Mcafee SecurityCentre installed on the PC brings up an error just after starting that says an unexpected error occurred and that it can't continue.

I also downloaded Hijack This! and GMER as requested in the sticky post, but both of these are also terminated before their scans complete. I also downloaded and ran DDS which completed successfully. The DDS.txt log is reproduced below, and the attach.txt log is attached to this message.

I'd be grateful for any help that you can provide me with in removing this annoying malware!

Thanks,

Matthew

Hi all,

Have now also tried running the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal tool, running it both in safe mode and normal mode, but in either case this is also terminated by the malware.

Also, I didn't mention last time that the malware has disabled Mcafee SecurityCentre's realtime scanning.

I'd be really grateful for any help you can provide with this.

Thanks,

Matthew

Hello CatByte,

No thanks, I restored the software on the computer back to its factory settings and re-installed everything so the problems are now sorted. Thanks very much for your reply, though. Don't worry about the delay!
