    What happened:

    1. My hard disk was nearly full and I (stupidly) did not have a working antivirus. I logged in one day to get the message 'windows cannot load your user profile because there is not enough free memory, loading default profile instead'.

    2. A day or two later, I manage to free up some memory by uninstalling some programmes, but the original user profile would not use - it was just the default 'administrator' profile, no password.

    3. I scan with malwarebytes, which deleted some threats. I can see malwarebytes is scanning my old files, so they have not been deleted - I just cannot access them on the computer.

    4. I have gone into C:/documents and settings, and changed the folder view settings to show hidden files etc, but I cannot see my old profile - it seems to have been completely deleted/overwritten.

I know the files are still on the computer, but I cannot get to them becuase of the user profile. What can I do?

    Any help much appreciated.
