The virus is residing in one of the System Restore folders. Do as MOBO suggested and turn off System Restore, reboot, turn System Restore back on, then run another virus scan.

You should not run 2 antivirus programs at the same time because it will cause problems.

Thank you for your help. I've done it and the virus are gone. I was going to do that but just wanted to know what you guys think. Can I please ask another question? my computer start up not too slow but as soon as I want to open a program it takes forever. For example when I want to open IE i have to click about four times before it opens and but it takes a while. It's the same for other programs. Sometimes I'm lucky and it opens fast. i'll appreciate help.

Thank you.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [kernctl32] rundll32 kctl32.dll,initialize

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

Restart in Safe Mode

Open Windows Explorer. Go to Tools, Folder Options and click on the View tab.
Make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".
Now click "Apply to all folders", Click "Apply" then "OK"

Delete these file:
kctl32.dll

Reboot and post another log.

Cybertech, I have done most of the virus scans and it says no virus found. My comp is doing crazy things sometimes. Like the mouse moves on its own but very fast and it opens programs as the mouse moves over it. It happens when i'm ofline aswell. I've included a new log. can you please check it out.

Thanks,

This is the first thing I see:

Platform: Windows XP (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 (6.00.2600.0000)

You must get the critical updates from Microsoft. You are not going to win the battle unless you do.

I didn't catch that earlier. It looks like the original version of XP is still installed and hasn't been upgraded to XP SP1 or XP SP2, and MIE hasn't been upgraded to 6.0 SP1 either. (n)

Jacpre:

When you scan your computer at the Windows updates site, how many critical updates and Windows updates are listed?

It gave me two options: Express Install or Custom Install. I chose the first option and it only gives me one update Windows XP Service pack 2 and it says it is 75mb. Should I just go ahead and install this update.

Jacpre:

The "express install" will do fine because it'll only download and upgrade what needs to be done instead of downloading the full file - which is about 3 times larger.
