Hi friends,

I get one of these every day (everything between asteriscs). any one know the virus I should go after? I keep Norton updated but this keep coming.

Or am I clean and it is stopping some things coming at me?

I am not sure of the info in the headers to know for sure.

It appears that my username @ my local host is sending to me ([email protected]). The problem (spammer or virus) seems to be [email protected]

Thanks, Frank

it's the [email protected] virus

any good Anti virus should protect you. You are ok if you don't open it and just delete it

Bassetman,

I respectfully suggest that you were mistaken in scolding me and closing my thread. There was a perfectly correct reason in my submitting to both the security and email fora. My problem fell in between these two problem areas. The title expressed this. Obviously no one was "confused" as I got good responses from both fora.

I am new at this and respect the seriousness with which you people who have been around longer try to preserve the integrity of the fora but I think you were mistaken this time.

Try to think about it and not to be wooden in your application of rules. There MAY be tiimes that it is important to consult the friends in different areas of expertise. I submit that this was my case.

No hard feelings, just sorry that those who might have helped me could not. Best,

Frank

First I was not scolding you! I was offering you advcie (which happens to correspond with the rules) that you would be better served by having all the suggestions and questions in the same thread.

No one was stopped from helping you, we all look at new posts when we come here and can see your request (that's how I saw you had two).

I don't make the rules, but I have found that they are there to help people provide you with the best help we can.

Respectfully

First of all John did not close your other thread in Security it was Admin that did. There are special conditions from time to time that may warrent two threads involving the same problem but those are extremely rare. We the individuals who Administer and Moderate TSG do not allow duplicate threads for these reasons thus we included posting duplicates as a rule violation.

1) It causes confusion and ultimately could cause serious problems to ones computer if suggested fixes are done out of sequence. Much the same as Two Doctors prescribing pills to the same patient.

2) From a Administarative point of view it is our responsiblilty to insure someone is not passing on wrong information intentionally or unintentionally and having to many fingers in the pie so to speak and in many forums makes it difficult if not impossible.

If you find in the future your Question is not being adequatly responded to and you think it would do better in another Forum then feel free to ask to have it moved by using the Report button directly under your post. Also keep in mind if your original problem is two part and not related to eachother then feel free to post two different problems.

Thanks a lot. First to the people who helped me with my original problem and especially to Bassetman for his trying to help also. I mistakenly thought that he was the one who closed the thread. I thought he was the admin.

Thanks to the admin for clarifying the issue.

It is an unbelievable great service that we have here which deserves our support.

Best,

Frank
