My friend is running Windows 2000 and has two seperate users one has administrative powers and the other is restricted. Now after running Ad-aware SE personal on the the administrative user and also running Norton 2000 both programs removed a lot of spyware and viruses. The restricted user is very noticably slower than the administrative user and also can not correctly run norton antivirus. Also she can not run live update for some reason or can she do windows updates. Norton will tell her it finds worms and trojans and she constantly gets errors. Does anyone know a good way to solve the problem? Thank You for any help.

Well both of those links were free anti-virus scanners, best thing you can do is to go here and download hijackthis http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html make sure you download this to its own folder away from the desktop (important) then post a log back here for analysis .....

Well the first site worked and it found about 12 trojans and she was able to delete them than after that she was able to run live update in her norton anti virus and then ran windows in safe mode where she started up norton and it took out about 40 viruses. Now after restarting she gets more errors with different viruses so i guess hijack this would be the next step.

You have still quite a large amount of malware but first run that uninstaller. then download http://www.spyware911.net/downloads/LSPFix.exe. Open and click "I know what i'm doing. Then move any/all instances of osmim.dll toi the remove section then click "Finish"

Then reboot, rescan and post a fresh log.
