There is no reason to have any kind of anti virus or malware protection for blackberry our android. Its unnecessary and will do more harm than good.like slowing stuff down.

I'd say it's necessary to have Anti-Virus on your Android device. Android viruses are being made, and there were some recent ones floating around. Get Lookout Mobile Security, not just for the anti-virus, but since it has a "lost device" option, and you can GPS track it if lost. As for Blackberry, I'm not sure too much, since Blackberry is a LOT more secure than Android-based devices.

Can you please give me the name or event of one virus attacking the android os? No. You can't. Any antivirus app will slow you down more anything. But listen to this guy. I'm sure he has better credibility.

there are android malwares out there
    1 is http://www.talkandroid.com/24949-new-android-trojan-virus-discovered-dubbed-gemini/
    another http://www.intomobile.com/2011/01/02/android-virus-mso-pjapps-china/

However there are exploits that run under the android OS using java/flash etc that are cross OS & will casue problems on android

if you use the phone to connect to the net , then yes an AV is probably needed but if you use it as a phone only and don't download apps etc then the risk is vastly reduced and you probably can get away without any protection at this time
How long "this time" will last for is anybody's guess but I will say that I see proof of concept excploits for all OS almost every day and it is just a matter of time before they get into the wild

Most antivirus companies only have protection for windows & sybian based mobiles but that is changing and I seee the time very soon when every phone will need an AV

I've been testing these three security apps:

    1) MobileShiled
    2) BluePoint Security
    3) AppScan

I do notice these apps slow down when booting, and downloading. I'm just wondering if the apps I'm using are really doing any good for actual protection ....
