hello. i need some help, like everyone else......im getting "amazingautosearch" over and over again on my homepage... in addition to that problem, there is a program that is on my computer that i KNOW was installed without my permission, but it starts up automatically. i ran msconfig to uncheck it in the startup list, but it puts itself back on there. its called "PeakCreative" and its in a folder in my program files entitled "hold date wipe." i have run adaware, spybot and am in the process of running a trojan hunter, so far without any luck of removing this program or resetting my homepage to what i want it to be. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

Welcome to TSG

Go to http://www.oneknight.co.uk
and download 'Hijack This!'.
make sure it is placed into it's own folder, not a temporary folder. Then doubleclick the Hijackthis.exe.
Click the "Scan" button, when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.
Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log (in the security section)
It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required,
so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

help!

Restart to safe mode.

How to start your computer in safe mode

In safe mode find and delete:

The C:\Program Files\HOLDDA~1 folder (See *Note below)
The c:\program files\altnet folder
The C:\Program Files\couponsandoffers folder
The C:\WINDOWS\System32\P2P Networking folder

*Note: I have no way of knowing the exact name of this folder, but the first six letters will be HOLDDA
