I just bought a nice shiny new second-hand laptop. Oneof those people have bought from a shop got it home and decided they're to thick to turn it on.
It's got Vista on it. It's crap.
They must know it's crap other wise why would they put the option in to basically turn it back to win95.
I managed to crash it totally 3 times on the first day, even though they say I can't. I even got a blue screen once, but no writing sadly.
So this is not a debate, I just wanted to says M*******t you are no better than the toejam between my toes.

Using XPmce sp2 with no complaints, but I have heard of many issues with Vista.

Some one is pulling your leg. That option does not exist.

Who are 'they' and how assured are you that it isn't a problem with the used hardware you bought?

I even got a blue screen once, but no writing sadly.
The only BSOD my Mom's laptop ever got with XP was when the hard drive failed.
Maybe you need to check out the condition of your hardware?
I used to get a BSOD several times a year with 98se, but I've never seen it with XP.
As I said, I don't have any experience with Vista, so I can't compare, but I do intend to avoid it until it's been debugged......XP had many issues also, in it's first versions.

:D.......there were times I felt the same.....:D

What do you mean "There's no such option"?
In vista you can turn it back to the xp syle menu, then organise the start menu so it looks exactly like win 95.
The BSOD came when changing vista options. The second crash came after I rolled back when aol refused to uninstall.

Just what I posted.....no option "to basically turn it back to win95. "
Start menu that looks like 95 does not = win 95......
There is no option to roll back to win 95.

Is the noun to which "pedantic" is the adjective not in common use in the US? If it is, I think bogeypie (class!) should be thankful Stoner doesn't appear to report much, as it wouldn't get through most Brit forum language filters
