I have an Acer laptop. It was working fine then suddenly it decided to drop the network connection. The NIC works fine and I can't see any problems but it will not connect. So I am trying to reconfigure the network connection but it keeps defaulting to PPPoE via a dial up connection. I've tried uninstalling the NIC, I have the modem and the wireless card disabled but it still tries this. What is with Vista that you can't simply setup a network like you used to under XP? Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.
