I had Vista business 32-bit version installed on my laptop.

I got an offer for it, so decided to sell it. In order to try get rid of all my personal files I did a fresh custom re-install from the boot disk. It stated during the installation that old system files would be backed up into windows.old in the C drive.

I right clicked it and chose delete - about 15Gb was freed up on the disk.

I was just wondering that this is the only place where old personal files would be backed up? and also that deleting it by right-clicking->delete is the best way, as it was not shifted to the recycle bin, however disappeared from the C drive.

Thanks for any help, just wanted to make sure, as I have now sold the laptop.
