so after using vista and vista media center for 8 months, i have finally ran into my first major problem. i go to reccord a tv show today and heres what happened.
    1. i opened media center
    2. i clicked live tv
    3. error message pops up: "CANNOT START WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER, a required media center componet could not be started. please restart your computer and try again. if the problem persists contact your hardware manufacture."
    4. reboot and retry same results
    5. installed happague's tv software, tv tuner working fine
    6. reinstall vista clean, same results
    7. played with permissions for media center, no help
    8. tried to set up tv tuner again in media center, new error message: no tv tuner found.

everything is good and well in device manager, and it was working for the 8 months i used it previously
    any ideas or comments?

    ps: running windows vista ultimante

Ok well if its not the media player than i dont know what happened avidsensei, but im guessing whatever part of media center is missing or currupted can be fixed by running the system restore utility. Go back a day or two and it restores your system files to previous state...does not affect your other files except desktop items so move new files off desktop into folders so you do not loose them.
