Anyone else having this error with Windows update and Vista? I tried it twice, and it failed both times. Other than people asking if someone else has seen this, a search turned up nothing. :)

I've seen it but upon reboot it installed fine, never looked any further I must admit.

You try the usual steps, disable any security software, clear temp folders?

Did you move your Temporary Internet Folder to another location?

    just throwing out some ideas

Nope. That particular one was applied to my PC on 6/12 successfully.

I did reboot, and I regularly clear the temp folders. I saw a bunch of references to it failing, but I don't see any solutions. :) I'll keep looking...

Did you click Get Help? I had an error and couldn't update a week or so ago, and clicking get help had me delete a file or two and then it installed fine. Don't remember the error message or the exact solution, but clicking get help had the error code and fix listed.

Too bad, I was impressed how it worked after all the update problems with xp. I guess it was a simple one and I got lucky. Ah well..

John, I have seen a similar (if not exact) message. I was also kind of stumped because it kept happening.

What I did was restored the machine to a date before the failed install, killed all unnecessary apps and tried again. It worked for me. It may or may not work for you.

    Good luck.

Not a bad plan, I may give that a try. :)
