I am using an Inspiron 1525 made by DELL and running Vista (Home Prem). I'm posting this request for help from another machine because mine booted into a screen that says

"Do not power off or unplug your machine. Installing upgrade 1 of 1".

But no upgrades are taking place (since the modem is idle) and I cannot get past this screen. Using cntrl+alt+delete does not work because the keyboard is locked out. I have tried to power off and then reboot while tapping or pressing F8 but I cannot get into SAFE mode. Instead the display is "restoring Windows" then it loads the message "Do not power off... etc".

This is so frustrating. I would appreciate some help please.
