Hello, I am really unsure where I need to post my problem, but seeing this would be the majority of it dealing with graphics and visuals (especially notice it when I play a game), thought it would be best described here.

A week or so ago while my PC had it screen saver on, I noticed that its animation or visuals were very very slow like a lag. I did think too much of it but then I downloaded the Torchlight demo and about 5-10 minutes into playing the visuals slow down as to that of my screen saver problem.

I have tried looking up all possible options, updated graphics and video card drivers. Tried seeing if it was other software interaction by checking Task Manager to see if it was of memory. I have pretty much exhausted all options thinking that it may be do to some visual/graphic problem. I haven't had this problem before till now, I don't have the best graphics card but it never slowed down to like this especially when the game is running smoothly.

I have also noticed when it happens after I take it off screen saver and say I load up Firefox the animation is as jerky or slow, it isn't as fast as it would be. But after awhile it returns to its normal self.

    Here is my system stats:
    Windows Vista 32-Bit
    3GB RAM
AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual Core Processor 5000+ 2.60 GHz
    NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

Again, my visuals have been slowing down.. checked if it is memory usage and that was not the problem. It has just become very annoying to look at. Any feedback would be appreciated, I just don't know what to do anymore.

The video card, might be a year and a half old, at least a little over a year. The last time I cleaned and dusted was probably a month ago, might need it again but did not have an air can at the time which I would always use.

Would it be time again to clean and dust? If that doesn't solve it, what might be the next step?

As of right now, the fans are running OK yes. In the past they've been known to make weird noises but they would go away within a couple days.

Have you download different screen savers and do you have them on mostly?

I have only used the ones that came installed on my PC recently and it hasn't been a problem up until couple weeks ago. I do have my PC running most of the time and they go on frequently after 10 mins of no use.

I switched screen savers when this happened wondering if it was just that one, but sure enough after awhile it stutters, really slow.

Try turning off the screen savers and see how it runs also you could post a HijackThis log to see if anything shows up

    Download HijackThis to your desktop
    • Double click on HJTSetup.exe on your Desktop
    • Click Run and Next
    • It will install to Program files by default
    • Click Next and Next again
    • Check the box Create a desktop icon then click Next again
    • Click Install then Finish, it will launch Hijack This
    • Click on "scan system and save a logfile" usually in notepad
    • Copy and Paste the logfile in your next post
    • Using Ctrl+A to copy All and Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste.

All right, thanks for your response. I will try disabling screen saver and that program and give you an update.

I don't play many games with this PC anymore, it was just with that demo it got to the point it was unplayable, but I never came across that problem before. I should try another game to see if it even messes with any others.

All right, any reason? I guess they'll be able to see if there is anything out of the ordinary in the log?

    Thanks again.

The thread was requested to be moved.....a minor type of adware was seen in the HJT log but I do not think that is the main cause of your problems.

You should UNinstall the Viewpoint Media Player or anything else with Viewpoint in the title from Change/Add Programs.

Also> UNinstall the Logitech Desktop Messenger

Restart. Post a new Hijackthis log.
